Graduation Requirements

     Students graduating from Ontario high schools leave with one of three certifications:

    Certificate of Accomplishment

    - less than 14 credits

    Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC)
    14 -29 credits with the following requirements:
    - 2 credits in English
    - 1 credit in geography or history
    - 1 credit in mathematics
    - 1 credit in science
    - 1 credit in physical education
    - 1 credit in technology or the arts
    - 7 elective credits

    Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
    - 30 credits
    - 40 hours of community involvement
    - provincial literacy requirement
    - NEW! - Beginning with students that entered Grade 9 in the 2020-21 school year, students must earn at least two online learning credits to get their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Parents/guardians who wish to opt-out or exempt their child from the online graduation requirement must complete the OCDSB Online Learning Graduation Requirement - Opt-Out Form.
