Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services

Hello. My name is Heather Gallant and I am the school based counsellor here at Sir Guy Carleton. I work for Rideauwood Addiction & Family Services. My role here at the school is to provide counselling and support for inpiduals who may be struggling with drug or alcohol issues or for those who may have concerns about a family member, a friend, or someone else they care about. In addition to counselling services, when given the opportunity by the great team at SGC, I provide educational information in the classroom setting to educate young people on the truth, good, bad, and ugly, about drug and/or alcohol use and to allow them a safe space to ask questions.

I have been working with young people since 2001 in mainly residential environments, including stabilization and assessment and the open custody environment. I graduated in 2005 from Carleton University with a BA in Psychology and have continued expanding on my education taking courses in trauma and addiction.

Referrals can be self-made, or by a teacher, guidance counsellor, or principal who have concerns about a student. Participation with Rideauwood is strictly voluntary. My office hours at Sir Guy are as follows:

Every Monday: 8am-11:30am

Every second Tuesday: 12:30pm-3pm

Every Wednesday: 8am-3:30pm

My office is a safe, non-judgemental place and I welcome all students and staff to come by and say hello anytime!
