At Sir Guy Carleton S.S. We pride ourselves on preparing our students for the world of work. Our technology courses demonstrate an on-going commitment to providing education and training in various trades. To accompany these subjects, our academic courses are tailored towards helping our students transition into the world of work and to help them find success in all that they do.

Our math courses are offered at the preparatory, locally developed/workplace, and applied/college levels. These courses have been designed with our students’ best interests and goals in mind and cover a vast array of practical, everyday mathematical topics.

Preparatory - Courses at the Preparatory level focus on core mathematical skills in preparation for applying that knowledge to practical applications in Locally Developed courses. (ie - fractions, patterning, number sense, etc)

Locally Developed/Workplace - Courses at the Locally Developed/Workplace level focus on practical, everyday applications of mathematics. Courses at this level are designed to help prepare students for everyday life and do not meet the requirements of certain college programs. (ie - recipes, taxes, paycheques, etc)

Applied/College - Courses at the Applied/college level are designed to meet the prerequisite requirements for specific college programs. (ie - trigonometry, algebra, etc)
