UPDATED: Changes to the Community Involvement Hours for the 2022/2023 School Year

The community involvement graduation requirement of 40 hours is restored for students graduating in the 2022-23 school year and beyond.

For the past two years, the Ministry of Education provided flexible ways for students to obtain community service hours. These flexible measures will continue to be available for the 2022-23 school year for all students. At the principal’s discretion, the ministry is permitting the following additional ways for students to earn hours:
● During instructional time on a school day
● Through duties normally performed at home (ie. helping an elderly relative
with an errand or a sibling with homework)
● A maximum of 10 hours from paid employment for students 14 years and
older.

Community service hours can be logged and submitted electronically using the
Electronic Community Involvement Hours log sheet. Students will need to login to their OCDSB accounts to complete their submissions. Students can also pick up a paper copy of the form in the Student Services office, or print a copy of the Community Involvement Form.

Please see the OCDSB Community Involvement Guidelines for a list of suggested activities.
